Pakistan Set To Become Marble And Granite Leader
Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) has called in five of the country's top geologists for a survey project that will determine Pakistan's granite and marble production capacities.
According PASDEC chairman Ihsanullah Khan, the undertaking presents a major growth opportunity for the Pakistani economy and is expected to help fuel export activity to $1.5bn by 2013, from just around $29m at present.
The move is part of the Federal Secretary Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives' goal of bringing the country's marble and granite output to the international level. Pakistan is said to have enough granite and marble potential to be considered a world leader.
